Cannon Design’s Los Angeles office team took to its feet in response to the Century City Transportation Management Organization (CCTMO) National Bike to Work Week challenge. Over the course of the week, one quarter of the office participated and logged a collective total of 403 miles cycled/walked to claim first place! That distance is slightly greater than driving between the firm’s Los Angeles and Phoenix offices. It also translates to a host of benefits:
~ SAVING MONEY – $85 gasoline savings (at current local price of $4.25/gal. and average US fleet mileage of 20 mpg).
~ WINNING MORE MONEY – over $1,150 in prizes (awarded by Century City Transportation Management Organization
~ GETTING HEALTHIER – 10,478 calories burned (light effort biking at 10 mph – 26 calories per mile)
~ REDUCING THE OFFICE CARBON FOOTPRINT – 161 kg CO2 reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (compared to driving a medium sized automobile)
~ HAVING FUN – immeasurable (according to everyone involved)

Participating team members are (top row, l to r): Sarah Beach, Alex Sexsmith, Jonathan Moody, Stuart Broussard, Hong Gip, JD Balzli, Kevin Choi, Kiduck Kim, Ryan Ramirez, Charles Aweida; (bottom row, l to r): Carlos Amato, Annie Lehatto, Chung-Yang Cheng, Edvena Darden, Maryal Peter, Jenny Tse, Janet Yoon, Sharon de Leon; (pictured separately): Craig Hamilton; (not pictured): Kevin Sticht, Melissa Gorman, Herson Lopez, Mimi Lam, and Winnie Sarabia.
