The 711th Human Performance Wing Complex has been named the Best Military Project in the 2012 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Design Awards. PCI selected only 24 winners and eight honorable mentions for this year’s awards program. PCI works to showcase innovative designs that push the envelope regarding the utilization of precast/prestressed concrete in the profession.
The Human Performance Wing Complex is part of the Major General Harry George Armstrong Complex, a centerpiece for the U.S. military’s $332 million BRAC (base realignment and closure) construction program. The facility consolidates numerous medical research functions previously dispersed across the country, including the newly established 711th Human Performance Wing, the U.S. Navy’s Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force Physiological Training Unit. The Human Performance Wing is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate research, education and consultation in a single organization.
