Mark Mendell


Mr. Mendell, Co-Chairman of the Board and President of Cannon Design International, has served Cannon Design for more than 35 years, including 15 years as the firm’s president. As President of Cannon Design International, he focuses on advancing the global presence of the firm, which now embraces practice throughout all of North America as well as 22 countries in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Asia. He also chairs the firm's Advisory Board of international experts in business, professional practice, construction, academe, and law, which serves to assist the Executive Leadership Team in advancing strategies for Cannon Design’s growth and development. The recipient of many awards for his significant contributions to 20th-century architecture, Mr. Mendell is an internationally acknowledged pioneer in green design. The Occidental Chemical Center, which he designed, has been hailed as one of the world's most energy-efficient office buildings, receiving the U.S. Department of Energy's "Energy Star," the federal government's highest award for outstanding energy performance. In 2003, Mr. Mendell was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and inducted into the College of Fellows, the Institute's highest individual honor, in recognition of his contributions to the profession and his leadership in developing innovative methods to achieve excellence.
